In June 2002, VIDAR introduced support for Windows XP® and Windows 2000® via STI1 driver software. Support for Adaptec ASPI2 device drivers on Windows 2000 has been discontinued.
After you have installed the Adaptec 2930 card in your PC, you will need to select and install the appropriate device drivers for your system to ensure proper communication between the digitizer and PC. VIDAR recently has introduced a driver CD that can be used to install USB or SCSI drivers on Windows 2000 and XP operating systems. Please note that only digitizers with serial numbers 310000 and higher have USB interface capability and that VIDAR drivers support USB 2.0 (USB 1.1 is not supported).
VIDAR supports the following Windows operating systems:
- Windows XP Professional Service Pack 1 and higher
- Windows 2000 Service Pack 4
The instructions for installation are different for different operating systems and depending on whether a USB or SCSI interface is being used. Complete instructions for all supported and legacy systems are available at the Setup Guide links in the chart below. The table below outlines the CDs needed for each operating system.

IMPORTANT: The Driver CD files must be burned to a CD for the autorun installation program to run. After downloading the Driver CD zip file, unzip the files to the hard drive. Then burn the files to a CD and install according to the Setup Guide. If you are not able to burn a CD, please request the VIDAR Toolkit and Driver CD from medtech@VIDAR.com. Shipping charges may apply.
1The STI driver takes advantage of Microsoft's Still Image Architecture (STI) for digital imaging devices.
